The Nature Of Photography: Light
Okay, so, today, my subject is light. Light is an interesting subject, if thought of the right way. We only see white light, with the exception of a sunset or a bright streetlight or something like that. Why? Well, it’s because we are used to the sun’s bright white light. So therefore, we only see white. But our cameras see all different colors of light. Also, light has a temperature, depending on the color. I can actually prove that. You know how, if you wake up right when the light is coming… Read More
The Nature Of Photography: Moving Subjects
This subject is a fun one to talk about. When shooting moving subjects, or subjects that move a lot, always use a fast shutter speed, unless you’re going for an intentional blur. What’s great about this subject, is the fact that it freezes a nice moment, or a very active moment, to let viewers see the scene frozen in place. Look at a few of these photos. As you can see, I love my dog, so I photograph her a lot. So first look at the birds, I was very lucky to… Read More
The Nature Of Photography: Still Life
Photography is a great thing, all photographers say that too, but let’s think about it. When we go deep into the art of photography, we see that there are so many categories and so many new things to learn, so join me on my first post on this series. Still life is a subject of photography that a lot of photographers love, why? well, because it’s still, so we can take our time, and get the picture just right. But I believe that if we can think about it deeper, we can… Read More
Intro
Hello everyone, I’ve got exiting news, I will be making a series of posts all focusing deeper into The Nature Of Photography. I really hope you enjoy them all!
What Do You Do With Your Photos?
So, you’ve got a truckload of photos loaded onto your computer’s files, but you don’t know what to do with them, that’s what I’ll talk about today. There are a few options for this. One, you can make a website and feature them on it (if you aren’t already). There, you can share your photos, use them for a project, and even sell them to make money! Another option would be to edit them to your liking, and then hire your favorite printing company to print them on photo paper. After you… Read More
My Favorite Times For Photography
In this next post, I will tell you my favorite times to take photos, and how that can improve your photos. Also, I am going to make categories of different types of photography, which all have different times. First, we have close-up nature photography, which, in fact, is the category I’m best at. I think the best time for this is actually not the Golden Hour, it’s the opposite. I like my close-ups to be shot in the morning, but the time span is really short. You have about 1/2 an hour,… Read More
ISO
Okay, here is another lesson on photography. The term ISO is the shortened way to say, the camera’s sensitivity to light. On your camera, there should be a button on the left side of the screen that has the letters ISO above it. When the screen is off, press and hold the button while turning the main dial. You will notice that on the little screen on the top of the camera, a number starts to move around. The higher the number, the more sensitivity the camera has, and the lower the… Read More
“What to do? What to do…?”
During this shut-down that we all know about right now, we can actually use this time to expand our skills and get out of our houses and take more photos. It is spring, and it is also the season for flowers and plants, and in my case, fungi. You probably have a garden at your house, that is good. I know taking pictures of your garden sounds boring, but it can be really fun, especially if you find bugs or little creatures in there too. If you own a property with a… Read More
Why I Love Nature Photography
Nature photography is special to me for many reasons. I love the nature and life around me, and I intend to embrace those moments through photography so anyone else can too, experience those amazing moments of life. I also love the fact that I can capture an amazing moment, and I suspect other photographers would agree. I live on a 16 acre plot of land that is mostly made up of a few deep gullies and trees. Tons of different animals live here, including owls, deer, turkeys, birds, turtles, and many others…. Read More
Mastering White Balance
Light. That is something that we don’t think about often. But we especially don’t think about the color of light either. You’re eyes don’t see all the colors of the light around us, we only see white, except for the obvious cases of a red sunset, or a yellow sky before a storm. But our cameras can see what we can’t. WB, or White Balance, is what we control to get different colors of light in or out of our pictures. To control the WB, press and hold the little button next… Read More
Editing Your Photos
Editing your photos is okay! When you do it, the best things to edit on your photos are the saturation, color, light, and the definition of your photos. You can tell on a lot of my photos I edited them. It does not make your picture too different, but it makes it look better. Look at this picture on an owl I took. You can tell I edited it, right? And how about this one? But if you do not want to edit, that’s totally fine! But your missing an awesome chance… Read More
Edweard Muybridge
Edweard Muybridge was a famous photographer. But he got his abilities from something other than a natural gift when he was born. He was a victim of sudden savant syndrome. But the story is not what I’m here to tell you about. It’s that he was a great example for photographers. He thought out of the box and shot rough, remote landscapes, while photography usually was soft, and quiet pictures. So I want you to follow his example and try to be the best, even though that might not happen. But you… Read More
